If you have not been a member of an e-mail list before, we'd better explain! Basically, anyone who has joined the list can post a message to it, and it automatically gets sent to every list member. They can then respond to your post, and again, everyone sees the reply.

The AML is an absolutely great place to get information, advice or help on post-adoption issues. We have adopted people, natural parents and adoptive parents on the list, many of them either in the process of tracing or having already competed a trace. If you post a query or question or request advice there, you will generally get several responses within a day.

There are two ways to join the list:

You can also decide how you want to use the list - receive every e-mail sent to the list; receive a single 'daily digest' which combines every mail sent that day into one; or receive special announcements only. This can be useful, as the list can generate a lot of traffic - sometimes up to 600 messages a month! (Note: there is also an option to receive no mail - we ask that you not use this option, instead choosing 'Special Announcements only'.

No advertising of adoption agencies, facilitators or baby-brokers permitted on this list! After you have joined, you will be sent a list of 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQ) about the list — please read them and abide by the instructions therein!
